SHACKLETT - Billie Whited Shacklett Age 76 of Alpharetta GA passed away peacefully on the morning of February 6, 2010, at home, surrounded by her family. Billie was born in Atlanta and graduated from Brown High School in 1951. She then attended GA State College. Her love of children led her to teaching and an administrative career in elementary schools. She retired as secretary of Alpharetta Elementary School in 1996. Billie was a member of the Alpharetta First United Methodist Church and was very active in the children’s choirs and youth programs. She was active in and served as troop leader in the Girl Scouts of America and was also a member of the Alpharetta Lion's Club. She was predeceased by her mother and father William and Lorena Whited, her sister Eleanor White and her daughter Billie Lynn Shacklett Been. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years Lamar Shacklett (Shack) of Alpharetta; Son, Hank Shacklett of Canton GA; Son-In Law, Andy Been of Atlanta GA; Grandchildren, Alexandra & Camden Shacklett of Canton GA, Sara Lynn & Hanna Been of Atlanta GA; Sisters, Henrietta Humber of Houston TX, Dorothy Earnest of San Diego, CA.; In-Laws, Knox Shacklett of Gainesville GA, David & Toni Shacklett of San Antonio TX.; nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Billie S. Been Foundation, PO Box 422149 Atlanta, GA 30342. The Billie S. Been Foundation is the Primary Benefactor of CAMP STARS, a family bereavement camp. The funeral service for Mrs. Shacklett will be on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Alpharetta First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.
